The Douglas Scrub Management Committee would like to thank teachers Anne and Simon Langsford for their assistance in compiling the following links to the SACSA Curriculum.

Douglas Scrub Campsite

CURRICULUM LINKS

This wonderful native scrub heritage area just south of Adelaide is available for class camps. Accommodation is either in the well serviced camp areas or dormitory buildings with attached communal areas and kitchens. The campsite was the first to be accredited by the Camping Association of South Australia (See the DETE Policy on Camps and Excursions 2.1.4 for more details.)

Suggested links to the Learning Areas of Society & Environment, Science, Maths and Health for SACSA Primary Years and SACSA Middle Years are attached. However there are also enormous possibilities for the Arts and Technology using various natural materials for design and construction.

There are ample playing areas for sports, a horizontal climbing wall to challenge students' strength and balance, an adventure playground suitable for middle primary students, orienteering, walking and canoes available. There is an amphitheatre with lighting and power ideally suited for evening performances and group activities. Campfire cooking can be undertaken using specially prepared cooking fire pits.

Visits to nearby educational and recreational sites can also be incorporated into your camp. These range from the Noarlunga Reef Aquatic Reserve to rural industries. (See 'offsite' list.)
