INTRODUCTION

The Institute for Earth Education was founded in 1974 and since that time the volunteer members of the Institute have developed a number of Earth Education programs. These programs are now available in over 15 countries. Check out the Institute for Earth Education website for information on the philosophy of Earth Education and programs available.

Two of these fully integrated programs 'EARTHKEEPERS' and 'SUNSHIP III' are available at Douglas Scrub, however they do require trained leaders to run them. In Adelaide, the outdoor firm 'Wildnerness Escape', will run special camps for schools and youth groups. 'Girl Guides South Australia' has a small team of volunteers who run the programs below for girl guide groups.

EARTHKEEPERS

"Four KEYS for helping young people live in harmony with the earth". A 2.5 day camp for young people 10-11 years.

SUNSHIP III

"Perception and choice for the journey ahead". A 2.5 day camp for young people 12-14 years.

OTHER ACTIVITIES AVAILABLE AT DOUGLAS SCRUB WHICH GIVE A 'TASTE' OF THE EARTH EDUCATION EXPERIENCE.

CONCEPTUAL ENCOUNTERS

These one hour concept actitities are an Adventure in learning Ecological principles. Developed for the 'EARTHKEEPERS' and 'SUNSHIP III' programs they can be used separately. Check out the IEE website for content details.

HOME SWEET HOME

A one hour conceptual encounter on 'Communities' for young people 10-11 years.

EARTH WONDERS

Experience an 'Earthwalk' and build your own micro park. A half day earth education experience for young people 8-10 years.
